The former Roman town was turned into arable land before 400AD but, by 1087, it was an important settlement again.

St Mary's church is a testament to rich men's desire to prove their piety in stone.

Several listed buildings remain as evidence that Newington was home to the rich and well-connected.

Free event on Sunday, September 6th at the Village Hall covers 2,000 years of Newington history in just 2.5 hours! We'll have talks, the chance for you to chat with local experts and displays.. 2pm-4.30pm
