Our Mission Statement - expand to reveal!

Newington History Group promotes and researches the history of Newington and the surrounding area. We want to bring the fascinating history of the village to life and engage the local community in its own heritage . We do this by:

Arranging heritage events throughout the year.
Holding monthly meetings around a local history topic with an invited speaker.
Carrying out our own research or working with others interested in the village’s past.
Supporting community archaeological digs.
Recording the village’s history for future generations-in addition, where we can, we provide research advice and education; and contribute to the protection and preservation of local heritage.

The remit is:

Newington past present and future, extending to nearby areas like Medway and Sheppey, even when these areas are covered by other local history groups.
We cover social history, local history and heritage in all its forms including archaeology.
